For me 4>3. In HoMM 4 u have much more abilities in every aspect of game & more space for tactics.
The only problem is a lil too colorfull childish graphics.

i've just played it for a while on lan and a few times on the net.

than i probably moved to play online age of mythology
...becouse i was a serious rts fanboy ;P

Ah, I've played the Multiplayer of JK2 for so long, was my first online game I've played, played tournaments there, CTF, TFFA, duels, everything, been in the best European clans there were and even competed at the JK2 olympics and unification tournaments xd

duels were pretty intense as i recall, barely nothing beats a lightsaber duel in the infamous carbon chamber

strangely, i have now realised it was one of the few games that made me go try playing online and really few games achieve that.

It still is without a doubt 
Everyone has his own opinion about HoMM 3, 4 & i'm not convincing u 4>3, just imo it does. 
Pity is that Nival freaked up such a saga.
