go into the mysql database (preferably with phpMyAdmin), go into the modules table, and change the published field.Change it to a zero from a one or viseversa.

You'll also want to chek the forum error log and use them to run other commands in myphpadmin so you can actually figure out which mod is fu(kin up what.

You also may try using the .htaccess file to force a larger ram allocation to the forum.
