How-to Create games?

Hello.

I am trying to improve my game called  Smiley Adventure using Game maker:

But I also would like to try make games in many other ways. Other programs, maybe be "admin" for a MMORPG world: Lineage2, or WOW, or other etc. Anyone know ways to do this?
Or being admin for a  quake, CS, San Andreas or other game environment.



And think of some stuff to change. I have used variables and programmed a little but ain't that good at Game maker or crating visual stuff.

Here's what I wonder about:

1. Enemies
How can I make some sort of simple "AI" on my enemies, so that they just don't bounce randomly on walls?

Would like the enemy to "see" my character, and start chasing after him and stuff like that.
Like in for example  "Ninja game", where the enemy see you, and start running towards you.

Other tips and tricks are welcome too.


2. I want to make few different types of games.
If I want to make a 2D game, (example like super mario, megaman style)  how do I do it? Is there some Half-finished environment that I can use?

And what tools do you use to create 2D and 3D objects? I haven't done any 3D things yet, but want to learn.


3. Other programs

What other programs can be used to create games?

Is there a easy way to manupulate  San Andreas, Quake, Counter-Strike and make your own modds of these?
I want to have a "sandbox" mode, for any game, to play around with, summon mobs, bosses etc at my will. Create and change stats and skills on characters who are fighting the boss. Or just being God over the world, pressing the   Kill Raid Boss button, and it drop all it's stuff.

Yeah.. It's seems a little intressting, but how to add monsters in it?  I didn't understand how the program worked.X)

No, my fully functional little brother and little sister liked it. hehehe

Well , The game had pretty silly maps. Would have been a little more advanced if I made it now. Learned a little more now, just a little.
