Mutant sub on OL stats

So let's say i have OL/smth mutant on my smth retail and i'd want to play it on OL stats... Does that mean i'm gonna have to substack switch to that something everytime i'd wanna switch back to my main class (non-retail)? Because ofc u can't have OL retail so if one day i forgot to substack switch and do a retail switch to main class from the OL stats i might lose the option to retail switch back to the OL mutant? Am i right or wrong?
