Title: Ati Radeon 4890 vs 5770
Post by: BanThemAll on January 08, 2010, 04:59:04 PM
What is better?

Considering that 5770 will be better for future games (coz direct x 11) support).

And prices are not too much diference

what resolution u play?
btw i suggest the 5770 (lower consumption is always a great thing)
also it SHOULD support cross(cannot check now) so...u know, upgrade will solve any GPU limited app

5770 bcuz of lower power consumption (and lower cooling noise), directx 11, fully working opencl, and directcompute.

4890 out powers the 5770 so id go with 4890 for the POWER!  its either 4890 or  5850
4890 beats the 5770 in all benchmarks by about 20% thats  a few FPS lol
so yeah 4890 or the HD5850

Future games will be slow on this weak dx11 card (5770) it will need to set low filter's and a low resulotion.
If u are about to spent 150euro (thats how it cost in my country) my suggestion is nvidia gts250 better and cheaper than 5770.

Future games (fully dx10+) will be more slower on nv cards... fe battleforge what is full dx10+(ati ownz all). Cuz now the most of games with directx 10 option, are just dx9 engines equipped with few dx10 effects... but this trend won't last long, cuz the dx11 have backward compatibility, so developers will use that more than they did with dx10.
