Hello guys,
I followed the "How to join" section but nothing works well. First of all I downloaded the client, extracted and installed. Everything looks fine. I also downloaded the patch, ignored the antivirus for some .dll files. I double click the .exe, and I made a Full Check. After that, when I click Start, the screen turn into black and then suddenly I get this error: "L2.EXE stopped working". Does anyone know how to solve this ?
Sorry for my bad english guys.

Hmm strange but lets try delete l2.exe in your system after copy paste this -- > http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EFKKUJC8 in your system file !
Thanks for your help but I still get that error. I'm using Windows 7 x64. That could be a problem ?

You are running wrong l2.exe imo
Thanks for your answer TrackZero but I'm running DragonNetwork.exe not L2.Exe. Im making the full check then click Start.
if u are running dn.exe why the error is on l2.exe ?

I have no idea why...
The DragonNetwork.exe is our loader, when you start the game, it runs the l2.exe automatically. But in a special way, it prevents the client from auto-updating with the NCSoft servers. If you have L2 running, minimize and open the task-manager. Under "processes" you will find the l2.exe running.
@ Topic (few more ideas):
- what programs are working, while you run L2?
Try do run as less as possible.
- do you use WindowsFirewall or some extra program?
Some Firewalls detect our L2 files as viruses/trojans. If you using something different, check the whitelist. Maybe turn it completely off.
- did you run the l2.exe directly (by mistake)?
If you did so, it might started to autofpdate and corrupted your files. In that case you need reinstall again.
- download the newest DirectX, GC drivers
I know most ppl are pro-computer-freaks here who are 2kkk x more skilled than a retarded noob like me. But actually, little things like this cause the most problems. I don't insult you or lower your skill, I just ask you to check it.
- check your AV, put L2 folder on whitelist
some AV block without warning
- do you use a router?
sometimes you need to activate special ports, check the internet/router-manual for more details
- how is your windows configured?
Check if you have admin-rights. Some very intelligent ppl deactivate the automatic-question when running any program. Mark your DragonNetwork.exe right mouse click, "run as administrator", click on yes.
- do a complete system-scan with your AV (and if possible Windows Defender)
In worst case you've got some kind of maleware, which is slowing your windows and stopping your l2.exe.
- if you have non-legal windows, get yourself the newest service-pack. If your windows is legal, run the windows update.
- if you are really bored, you can try formatting your HDD and reinstalling all.
hcd for GM/President! ;D
Well, first of all I have unninstalled my client. I have downloaded a new client then I put the DN Patch again. I have closed the "AVG Internet Security" and I disable the windows firewall. I made a full check using DragonNetwork.exe and then I clicked Start. Same error! I have DirectX 11 running and the latest drivers. I still get the same error.
My computer specs:
* Windows 7 Ultimate x64
* Intel Core i5 processor @ 2.26 Ghz 3Mb L3 cache
* 4 GB RAM Memory DDR3
* 640 GB HDD
* nVidia GeForce GT320M 1024 MBVRAM
P.S. - IDK why, but after that error appears and after I click " Close the program " everything looks brighter. This turns back to normal after restart.
What I should do next? :(
the best thing imo is to get a working system folder from some friend.

Can someone add the system folder in a .rar archive then upload it somewhere ?

When your LineageII once works correctly, you may notice that there is a difference between the gamma-configuration ingame and on your computer. Sometimes it happens, the configurations get exchanged. That means ingame gets the lower gamma-value and the normal computer the higher gamma-value. When your game crashes, it first minimizes. That's why you see everything brighter. (imho)

I'm really running out of ideas with you. Here is a copy of my system-folder, give it a try:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MKU6U3QD
Maybe someone from here wants to access my computer through Team Viewer to take a look?
* BTW: Same problem with your system folder :(. I tried everything and I miss my Dragon-Network alot. I don't know what else to do :(.
do u have the game installed or u are running the exe. from a copy of friend ? its really weird I guess u have tried almost everything.
I installed the game... I have downloaded it and installed it. Its very very weird. The other versions of Lineage 2 (Interlude, Hellbound) runs smoothly. No problems there. I dont know what else to do :(. I was googled for other Gracia Final servers then I tried to enter there. Same error. The screen turns black then l2.exe stopped working. :(
The last time I had this problem, I solved it with an exact copy of my old L2. If I remember well, I didn't install it with the exe. But as you may guess, I'm not really in the mood to upload nearly 9 GB -.-
But I don't give up. I have a little strange and crazy idea, it could work. While checking the L2 folder, I noticed the only 'important' files are the ones in the basic folder and the ones in system folder (which you've already got from me). So, first of all you delete all your files (NOT FOLDERS) in your Lineage 2 folder and put those files in:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q5SOP3PY
Now you have my system-folder and my basic-files. The other folders you can keep from the installation, they are more or less unimportant for us now.
The next step is simple, zip your whole Lineage 2 Folder. Then open windows-porgram-list and uninstall the game the usual way. If it is done, make sure you also delete the remaining folder (if exists). Now shut down your computer. Keep it off for 5-10 Minutes (to make sure the RAM gets completely reseted).
Now boot your computer again, open the .rar/.zip file and extract it into your games folder. Again put the l2.exe and the DragonNetwork.exe into your whitelist of your AVG. Do another quick reboot and run the game over the DragonNetwork.exe
Good luck
Note: It appears very strange and uncommon, but I've used this little cheat already with a few other programs, my computer didn't like. Mostly it worked XD.
Holy fvck... at the moment Im afraid its something related with graphic drivers, cus u say that after the screen turns black the game stops, lately I had a really big problem with graphic drivers and I almost format my pc, luckly and using all my experience I managed to reroll drivers and my system is stable now, amen! btw Im running an Agp 8x Ati drivers... I know it's old.

I have the latest drivers for nVidia GeForce GT320M from nvidia.com. I'm playing more sofisticated games than Lineage.
Ok if you are running Nvidia I believe it isnt a problem related to drivers.

I followed this step by step but I still get that error. I think this is the end for me on Dragon-network :(. I think there's nothing else to do and I still don't know what is the cause of that error.....
Thanks for helping me guys :(.
I dont know how to help u out.
One more try, this time we need to modify your DEP.
1. open your start-window (push the windows/home key)
2. click on the control-panel (if it is not in your start-window, use the search function)
3. depending on your basic configuration, you probably see big symbols with some notes (not what we know as control-panel from other windows versions)
4. Under the 'search field' (right top), you will see the point 'display' with a drop-down-menue). Click on this and choose 'small symbols'. The window will change and show you smth that looks more common. Scroll down and search for the "System", open it.
5. The window that opens now has two parts, a narrow left side and a wide right side with details. On the naviagation (left), choose 'advanced properties'.
6. A little window will appear with 5 maintopics on the top, choose the one in the center 'adjust'.
7. There you have 3 small topics:
"activity" (or efficiency)
"User Profiles"
"Start and rebuild"
Choose activity/efficiency and click on the 'properties'-button.
8. One more window will open, with 3 maintopics choosable on the top, we are looking for the last one, the DEP (Data Execution Prevention).
9. There you will have to chose between 2 options, if the first one is signed, choose the second one.
10. Now click on the add-button and add the l2.exe and the DragonNetwork.exe.
Save your changes, close all windows. Do a little reboot and try again.
As I don't use a english version of windows and you maybe also don't, the names of the topics and buttons may be different a bit. If it is too difficult or you just cannot find it, I will make a few screenshots.
The DEP prevents programs on your computer from doing some 'damage'. It is an automatic tool inside windows. Give it a try.
This is what I did:
Now I will reboot then I will try to enter.
** PS: I got the same error. :(
It appears like a very boring joke to me. I don't really get it anyway, doesn't anyone else have an idea?
According to all, what I've read on the internet (until now), the problem not comes from L2 directly. It happens with other games and programs, mostly because of a hyper-active AVG or because people forgot any basic things to install. As you told us, other games with better requirements work good, I assume you just miss something what only L2 needs to run.
I'll try with the basics, I'm sure there is something trivial missing XD, something short and unimportant:
- get the current service pack for win7 64 bit
- get the current DotNetFramework
- update the dirvers of your soundcard
- how old is your windows-version (I hope you don't work with the pre-release)?
- get the windows 7 CD, boot with it and tell the program it shall "repair" itself (maybe smth is broken, which we don't see)
- have you tried to run lineage on another computer? (if you have one, try it. If it works, compare the differences, installed programs)
If anyone else got an idea, no matter how retarded it sounds, post it.
hcd, what anti-virus program do you use? I will uninstall AVG but I want something else to install.
the problem isnt from avg for sure I use both avg av and security center and they are both really simple and light apps. thats my opinion.

regular free antivir from http://www.avira.com/
I don't really want to botch the registry-files. On my long list of stupid ideas, this is one of the last. Anyway, lets give it a try:
1. download (http://www.chip.de/downloads/c1_downloads_hs_getfile_v1_35246460.html?t=1319451001&v=3600&s=5d84b49fa14b1d593ceb6f986efa25bc) this little tool and install it
2. run it
3. choose
Registry at the navigation (left)
4. keep all points signed
5. click on the
Scan for Issues button
6. when it is done (can take few seconds), click on the
Fix selected Issues ... button
7. /yes /yes (save copy of registry)
8. run another scan
9. fix again
10. run another scan (keep doing 2-3 times, until only a few problems (1) are left)
11. do a reboot
12. try to run l2
Note: This action should be save, without further damage for your computer.

Of all the things we can try, this is last on my list. It is very annoying, eats time and there is no 100% guarantee everything will work fine - not even the programs/games which are working atm. I've got a few more ideas:
- open client/loader over DragonNetwork.exe
- in the right upper corner, you click on "settings"
- try different bit-rates/resolutions (apply and run the game)
(some notebooks have strange standard-resolution, can cause errors)
- get a free version of ad-aware
- install it, run it
(is not like any AVG, detects/deletes other programs which might block)
- open your lineage 2 foler
- right-click on your DragonNetwork.exe
- Propperties => Compatibility
- try with XP (SP3), Vista (and Windows 7)
(runs well on Windows 7 on many computers, but some games make trouble. I don't think it will change anything, but is worth a try anyway)
- don't run any kind of program when you try to run L2
(no instant messenger, no winamp/WMP - nothing, only connect and try to run)
- one more try about the drivers, I know you don't like it 'again'. I promise this is the last time I mention this:
-> remove your drivers of your Grapics Card and of your Sound Card complletely from your computer
-> run that registry cleaner, just to make sure they are completely gone
-> shut down computer, wait 2-3 minutes
-> boot your computer, if windows want to install automatic dirver, abort
-> shut down computer again, boot it again after 2-3 minutes and install the newest drivers
-> reboot once again and try run l2
(sounds weird, I know)
- have you tried with 'safe mode'?
-> reboot your computer and keep pressing F8 during the boot-procedure
-> a DOS screen appears, choose safe-mode (with networking) and try there
(this is only a test, I'd like to know if it works or not. I don't ask you to play in safe-mode forever.)
Anyway, I'm really running out of ideas. If we won't find a fix soon, you might have to do what Dumbled0re suggested :S. (if you have 2 or more partitions on your HDD, it will be easier. Just move all your 'important' files from the partion of your OS to another one. Than format the partition of your OS and reinstall windows there. In case you have everything on one partition, move your files on a USB-Stick or a portablle HDD).

I did this step by step... I got the same problem. In safe mode, Lineage doesn't start at all because I can't enable Direct 3D for Video card. The last solution is to format my HDD then install another version of windows 7 x64.
Thank you guys again for helping me out.
