Although the Queen’s Colour to the Royal Air Force in the UK was last presented at RAF Marham, Norfolk, in 1993, it is not since The Queen conducted a ‘Silver Jubilee’ Review of the Royal Air Force at RAF Finningley in south Yorkshire in 1977 that an event of this size has been staged.

The ceremony, comprising almost 800 Royal Air Force personnel, will begin with a Royal Salute and a flypast by four Typhoons from RAF Coningsby. Typically, first day, seepy, feels like a bad, bad sunburn (yours may not since they will be so small, taken from your other questions). Next few days, probably a bit sore, smooth but still feeling like a bad sunburn. 4th day or so, poof! Heavy peeling, less sore. After that, a light peel, no pain. If scabbing occurs, may or may not the be case with you, that may take a few more days to heal. usually, you;ll feel like new in a week or two with a total heal taking 6-8 weeks.

Aftercare:
For me (also in accordance with what my artist recommends after 15 years tattooing), I don't use anything other than the occasional moisturizer.

I wash my work a couple of hours after getting it done and then let it air dry. I reapply plastic wrap before bed and wash again upon waking. Then back to air drying. After around 3 or 4 days it starts to get stiff, then I use a light application of Aveeno with oatmeal (helps with the itching).

I only use the moisturizer when I feel really itchy or am feeling stiff. I don't use A&D or bacitracin or anything else and I've never had a problem with weird ink behavior or infection.

The way I look at it, what would I do for a mild scrape or a bad sunburn? Anything beyond that, in my view, could affect the ink/wound.

I want the ink to "set" as much as possible and skin to grow over the wound as quickly as naturally possible so I take it pretty easy for the first couple of weeks with no baths (no submerging the tattoo), just showers. I keep it really clean and make sure it can breathe - loose, clean cotton clothing.

Here are my last three stages of my tattoo - or should I say my half sleeve. I know what many of you are thinking - "Joe, we knew you were nuts, but this is ridiculous?" Don't worry, this is not the result of a three-day drinking binge or a dare by Shawn, I was contemplating this for a couple years. The tattoo is a koi fish swimming upstream and morphing into a dragon. Look it up if you need more explanation - but it has some shit to do with conquering your trials and tribulations, who knows - I just thought it looked cool. And it has increased my "P" Factor lately. Chicks seem to dig it.
