yup it s supposed to be comparable to a velociraptor. one thing that bothered me is that i couldnt find information on the normal access time of that drive anywhere (well while using the internal 4gb flash it s close to 0 obviously but while not -i suppose it s higher than a raptors :)). anyways probably a smart choice too for the more budget oriented enthusiast.

still fighting Vs .ini to find cache size :D since ? y year :D

if anyone wanna check this.....

some test about "what effect l2 gameplay"

http://translate.google.it/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http://forums.goha.ru/showthread.php?t%3D220867

result?
60% fast hdd (maybe a partitioned one dedicated to l2 of if u can ...a SSD)
FAST CPU !!!! ( l2 is old. just matter SPEED and good architecture -------> superpi under 15 sec will help u :D)
rest.... is 0

and is not a matter of connection
from here i can play from a "new" e8400 @3.9ghz, hdd with starting partition of 20gb dedicated to l2 , and simple 4850
i was at siege with 1920x1080 at medium/high setting and in siege i was at 18-25 fps

on the other pc athlonx2 4800 (2.9ghz) and not partitioned disk at 1680x1050 i had freeze and average was 10-15 fps with CLIENTSIDE lag of 2-5 sec

sorry for amd but this time they failed.

as commonly known l2 is best off with a high cpu frequency rate on a single core, and yeah used to run much better with intel based cpus. although since the phenom 2 this aint true anymore.

overall to cut it short what you want to have when playing l2:
1. overclocked cpu: core2duo, phenom 2, corei5/i7
2. real fast harddrive with low access time(!)
3. 4 gb of ram (i dont see any benefit from more though it never hurts)
4. gfx card: geforce 96xx or radeon 37xx or above
5. programmable input device
6. a clean os install with little to noone trash apps running besides. frankly my 32bits xp sp2 delivers the most with l2. 1-2 secs loading time with sandforce ssd on oc´ed i7. though win7x64 lets me use those 12gigs of ram for l2 it still only comes in second... xD

also the best comprehensive lecture on how to optimize l2 are the threads done by doczenith/ladyzenith on several l2 server boards (googlesearch is your friend).

And if you have something like me (Dell inspiron 9400 laptop):
-Intel core 2 T5600 @ 1.83GHz     - gay!
-5400 rpm HDD   -ULTRA GAY!!!
-2 giga ram
-Geforce go 7900gs

Close everything thats running in the background with task manager except L2 (heard it also helps if you close explorer.exe- didnt test it yet xD)

-gonna replace my HDD with a 60giga SSD - ocz vertex 2 extended soon... (not just cuz of L2 xD)

Im wondering how much of a difference would it make to play L2 on win xp or win 7...
