Make your own action figures?

At CES 2014, I ran into the DWS Labs (http://dws-lab.com/) team who gave me an overview of their XFAB SLA printer. It can print in an exciting range of 9 different materials: standard acrylate amber, ABS-like grey, ABS-like white, polypropylene-like, rigid opaque grey, transparent, ceramic nano-filled light blue, rubber-like black and rubber-like transparent.

With a possible minimum layer thickness of 10 microns, the surface finish on the parts shown at CES was impressive. The XFab retails for $5,000, but there is a lower cost consumer model on the way for around $2,500.

Currently avilable in pre-orders only and the price is still out of my sight, but this is the very first printer with such precision released for non-industrial use. Technical specs here (bottom of the page): http://dwslab.com/xfab/

It supports .stl and .slc file formats, using the UnrealEd 2.0 is possible to export any 3D model in .stl format, it should be easy to arrange each part of armor and weapons to reproduce your character, all you need is the L2 models (in L2 install folder), otherwise if you're good with 3D modeling programs naturally you can also make your models from scratch. If they lower the price and make it available for like $250-$280 I'd gladly get one of these printer, but do you think it's a good start in the right direction, or is it just another piece of useless hardware?
