My thoughts after my first week of play

Hey there, me again!

So, after a 7y break I thought it was time to play l2 again with some of my friends. Been playing here for a bit less than a week now and I'd like to give some feedback on my little journey so far. I'll just write down some bulletpoints which can open further discussion in this thread 

++ Server features close to perfection: I know this is subjective as not everyone will like the same feature as much as the next person, but I do believe that the server offers a nice environment to build a healthy community on. The 1h NPC buffs and global GK's are things which can be found on many mid-rate servers, but at least over here it's restricted enough for there to be active support players. The ALT+B system is very nice and something I haven't encountered on many other servers. Also, Donny is my best friend! 

+++ Great community: I don't even know where to start in order to thank everyone who has been so helpful to me.. and to be honest it's thanks to YOU that I'm still playing here today. I've been given items, money and horns (w/o asking) by several higher lvl players w/o them asking anything in return.

+ Easy XP, hard to obtain items: It's always good that there is something on a server which is hard to obtain. On this one it's not XP, but all kind of items (A/S/S80 gr wpns, armor, jewels, etc.). One of the reasons which will keep you playing.


---- Easy xp, impossible to obtain items: Ok, now the biggest pain point and, in my opinion, the reason why you'll never get new players to stick around. As I mentioned earlier, I have been given many items for free by players which I would never ever have been able to obtain by myself or with the help of my friends in a thousand years. And I'm only talking about A grade stuff here! The money I've gotten from killing mobs until lvl78, the hours I've put into farming and selling fur, quest rewards, the spoils from our cute-looking dworf wouldn't even have allowed me to buy/craft an A grade set or A grade dagger. Reasons being: 1) noone sells A grade set or daggers on the market 2) If they do, at a ridiculous price (SS+SA+3 @ 1.3kkk). Now, as I've also mentioned above, I don't mind putting the extra work in obtaining stuff, but once I've done all this .. I'm still in A grade on a "PvP" server, facing only ppl in S/S80 gear with dyes, tattoos, etc. Since there's noone left in my "position" on the server, I can't enjoy any PvP until I've caught up with those players (like, in a billion years). Yes, we could invest heavily into spoiling recipes, parts and crafting all that stuff, but it's still going to take ages because we'll have to do it ALL ourselves (nothing on the market for sale) and to be honest, noone's going to be that crazy 

.. now we've discussed in a previous topic about adding A grade to the shop (and it's a great idea), but to be honest, I don't think it will be enough. I believe it's in everyone's advantage (existing players as well) that new players can join the PvP scene, after having spent some time PvE'ing, and the barrier to entry right now is just way too high. I've absolutely never been a fan of server wipes, but unless you find a few hundred new players contributing to the item gathering/selling and crafting system, I really can't think of another way to get some action going on here. I know it's rather unfair towards players who've been playing here for quite a bit, but many of them will surely rather spend their time PvP'ing in B/A grade than sitting on the stairs of Giran all day 

Ayway, still not a fan of server wipes .. but can something else been done about the current situation?


PS: I don't mind promoting the server on l2 forums, but it would be kind of pointless if several issues, which will make newcomers quit after a day or two, aren't going to be addressed.

A grade/S grade isn't so impossibile (btw if you need just farming, use vote system = 2 votes every 15h and your char will be full S grade everyday), GL crafting dynasty set... After many farm and many tries i give up, i will stay in S grade, no point in farmin hours and hours and then see all your craft failing one by one...

Anyway, de/ty full S (even A is good), + bd/wc + sws/wk + Wc 81 (seal of limit on your de/ty) and you are ready to farm Stakato Nest ( Mats quest - you get 10q.items for each mob and 2x reward... In 2-3h you have all mats to craft s/s80 items... Then go FoG lower for exp/recipes S, and/or HB chimeras (with seal of limit debuff) to farm ATODS and take dyna rec/pieces... Then you try craft with "free" mats fron stakato nest quest...

(If need S weapon recipes tell me, i have like 60-70k torches from Fog quest)

Gear was a lot harder to obtain at the beggining, there was no wind/dark atr stones on market, bsss were EXCLUSIVE GOODS used only on pvp or hard boss where dps was the #1 issue. I still remember in my pt complaining about bsss shares (1st week tho guys).

This what u have now is easy mode from what it used to be, If this server would be wiped and started again SAME FILES from day1 (+bugfixes/hotfixes etc) i'd gladly start again, i liked the hard mode and it was rewarding. #1 pvp spot since day1 (the only real competitor, agent faceoff )

Oh I'm not saying we won't be trying to get that stuff. I'm just not sure the answer "make a de/ty, bd/wc, sws/wk, wc 81, spoiler & a crafter in order to gear your main char" is something encouraging to hear though as a new player  It then comes down to what i said in my original post, doing it all by ourselves. But yeah, it's a solution (don't want to sound to much like a QQ'er and be super negative about it), but I'm not sure it will suit many new players.

The thing is, it was the same situation for everyone. It was hard for everyone and you were PvP'ing with others since day 1. While yes it's easier to get BSSS now, it will take a very long time before my friends and I are no longer one-shot material in PvP and will even be able to participate in it. As said, I don't mind farming for months or years to get the good PvP equipment, but there needs to be other things to do beside it. In the current situation, I have no one to party with or PvP against or a thriving market which can assist me in moving forward. So it all comes down to playing L2 for quite some time as a single player game before being able to play with others

Once you have a DE/TY in A/S grade + dances + songs, you can do 3x supports in 1 day (excluding retail quest time)

You do easy on fog lower 61->78 in 1h max 2h... And 1->61 is a joke

If i did all this alone by playing solo, you can do it easier with your friends

Because those sh1ts are bugged and not giving set bonus.  You dont really need a ty/de to farm HB, archer party+full buff and bishop can do good there, just need minimum DB+F (Which can be obtained from votes and it is working) and also please guys, is not the first time i see this, stop telling new players "make a ty/de and xx buff bots and you can solo anywhere" he just said its been difficult to gear with A grade, he'd need to gear that ty/de with A grades he hasn't been able to get, they'd be in the same situation.

P.S: To the one who said "use seal of limit and you can farm solo" yeah, like he'd be able to get that seal of limit FS for 50 coins or from other players that ask for 45 coins.....come on now....

i spent like 50kkk past weeks for KE which could be farmed in 5hours maybe lol
