It was supposed to be a joke back in C4 on Dragon when it happened. Yet, it kinda got out of control and spread really fast.. And suddenly you were able to get pretty much anything you wanted or needed faster than on your own. I mean clan invitations, items, people were suddenly kind and nice just because of a trouser-leg problem.

Items weren't reason in my case. I never wanted items, even when I had a chance to have them.

This is true, and its been suggested (with good reason imo) that his theories were an excuse to try anf make his own desires acceptable.
